GenLed Expandable Garden Hose Review

GenLed Expandable Garden Hose Review

Why does it seem like every year you have to go out and purchase a brand new hose? There’s nothing as disappointing as going to water your flowers in the spring, but you can’t because your hose has cracked, the connectors are rusted, and you just don’t want to deal with a tangled mess.

An expandable hose like the GenLed Expandable Garden Hose is the perfect solution for homeowners who need a new hose, but don’t need a 50 or 100-foot long one.

GenLed Expandable Garden Hose Uses

In today’s review, we are going to take a closer look at the GenLed Expandable Garden Hose. We are going to go over the features of expandable garden hose, but we are also going to give you a brief summary of the reviews for the product. At the end, we’ll give you our recommendation on whether or not the hose is worthy of your time and consideration.

About The Product

The GenLed Expandable Garden Hose is a 25-foot hose that is also available in two other sizes; 50 feet and 75 feet. The hose is designed to expand up to 25 feet when you have the water on full blast, but when the water is off, the hose is a modest 8 feet long. The hose itself is very lightweight, thus allowing you to navigate your yard with no trouble.

This hose is made from dual layer, 100% natural latex core and features a tough polyester outer weave that’ll protect the core from punctures caused by outdoor debris. The high quality fittings on this hose ensures that you’ll never experience any rusting or leaking.

There is an on/off valve on one end of the hose that’ll allow you to turn the water off at the nozzle without having to walk back to the spigot.

The hose connectors are compatible for most nozzle attachments, which means you don’t have to run out and purchase a separate nozzle if you already have one. The inside of the connectors feature rubber gaskets that’ll give you a tight seal, thus preventing water leakage.

What Others Say

When looking at what people had to say about the GenLed Expandable Garden Hose, the majority of consumers had great things to say about the hose. Some of the customers who left reviews commented they appreciated how small and compact the hose is before you turn the water on, but they also were impressed when it expanded three times its original length.

People also commented that they liked how quickly the hose shrinks back down to its original size once the water has been turned off. Some mentioned that because the hose shrinks down so small, they never have to try and make room in the garage for a big hose anymore, thus leaving space for other things.

When using the hose, people were pleasantly surprised how easy they were able to maneuver the yard with the hose. They went on to say that unlike their old hoses, this one was very lightweight and they didn’t experience any tangles or kinks while they worked.

People also commented that they appreciated the on/off lever on the hose. They went on to say their children could play with the hose and turn the lever off when they were done playing, while leaving the spigot turned on.

Although many customers had great things to say about this expandable hose, there were some people who were let down with their purchase. These customers were most upset that the connectors on the hose were not made from brass. Instead, they were made from plastic which is more prone to breaking and cracking as time goes by.

Other people mentioned that the connectors didn’t fit properly on the spigot and/or the nozzle. They even tried to plumbing tape to achieve a strong seal that didn’t leak or strip, but it didn’t work.

Other customers reported their hose leaked the first time they tried using it. The water began leaking a few inches below where the connector hooked up to the spigot. Some mentioned that they needed to crimp the fittings to stop the unit from leaking water.

A very small handful of people commented that the hose had two holes in it and they’ve only used it twice since they received the product.

Final Thoughts

As winter fades away and we are greeted with warmer weather, it makes sense that people would want to spend more time outdoors, either playing, maintaining their lawns and plants, or cleaning their cars. Many of us use a traditional hose, but when you need to upgrade your hose, think about an expandable hose like the GenLed Expandable Garden Hose.

This hose is the perfect size for anyone with small yards and don’t necessarily need (or want) a long hose. Upon opening the package, the hose is only 8 feet, but once you connect it to the spigot and turn the water on full blast, the hose quickly expands to the intended 25 feet.

We like this particular hose because it is affordable, but it also uses decent quality materials. We would have preferred brass fittings because they are more durable and resistant to leaking, but for the price you’re paying, the plastic connectors are suitable.

We also appreciate that this hose features an on/off lever that gives you the ability to control the flow of water, or stop it completely without having to turn it off at the spigot. If you’re searching for a quality expandable hose, then we feel this is a good option.
